November Wine Dinner Now on a Saturday!

Escape to Our November 3, 2012 Wine Dinner Getaway

You're invited to escape to Madison CT for a very special Autumn Wine Dinner Getaway Escape.  Don't just save the date. Book it!

Your place is ready

So many guests have been asking - here it is. Our November 2012 Wine Dinner Getaway Escape is on Saturday, November 3rd! Yes, it's a Saturday. Yes, that's different. Why? Because the wine shop is now open on Sundays, and that means that you can go in on the day after the wine dinner and buy your favorite choices from the night before to bring home to enjoy again, to share with your friends, and to give as gifts. With Thanksgiving coming up, and all of the December holidays too, it's a perfect time to taste and fall in love with some new wines that you can then share with others in the weeks and months to come.

Hors d'oeuvres
So, on Saturday, November 3, 2012, in keeping with our tradition of creating a most memorable evening, we offer our seventh semi-annual "Wine Dinner Getaway Escape" for your enjoyment. The evening begins with a reception of fine hors d’oeuvres and wine, followed by a six-course tasting menu for a perfectly paired wine dinner experience!
John and Whitney Algieri, new owners of the Madison Wine Shop, are most enthusiastic to share their experiences and knowledge about the evening's wine offerings. We will be enjoying a specially selected group of fine wines, including some from Australia and Greece. With so much of our family living in Australia it's no wonder that one cousin, who owned a wine shop in a suburb of Sydney, introduced us to "down under" wines many years ago. Since then we've enjoyed more and more, and we can't wait to taste those that John Algieri introduces us to at the wine dinner. As for the wines of Greece, prepare to be wonderfully surprised, as we were. No more the "must develop a taste for it" wines flavored with resin. Rick Lewis, the famous "ricks picks" and late owner of the Madison Wine Shop, introduced us to wonderful reds such as the St. George grape, and all I can say is "More, please." John and Whitney have continued the shop's tradition of offering specially selected fine wines from around the world, and we can't wait for what they'll introduce us to on November 3rd.

John and Whitney

One thing's for sure, all of the evening's wines will be unique and interesting, complimenting each and every plateful. As John and Whitney present and pour each wine with each course, you will learn about the wines and the regions they come from and why and how they pair with the delectable morsels which accompany them. John has selected some of each country's finest offerings! Collaborating with us, our specially selected fine dining restaurant, the gourmet cheese shop and the wine shop will create a symphony for your palate!

All of the wines are exquisite and have been selected and are available at the Madison Wine Shop. Hors d’oeuvres, an opening course and dessert will be prepared by the Tidewater Inn, dinner courses will be prepared by the chef at a specially selected local fine dining Restaurant, the cheese course provided by Foxglove and Madison Cheese, etc.. We'll let you know about the chef and the restaurant as soon as arrangements are final. We're awaiting the details of the flavor profiles for each of the wines from John. Then we'll choose the chef. It's a carefully considered and fun process. A few weeks before the wine dinner John and I will take the wine that will be served with the cheese course over to Foxglove and Madison Cheese, etc. to have a private tasting with Fawn Nebinger who will help us to select the cheeses too.

This exciting journey of food and wine will begin at 6:30pm. Check in to your room ahead of time and come dressed comfortably to dine, but be prepared for an elegantly served meal from start to finish. After your sumptuous repast you’ll retire to the comfort of your beautifully appointed room here at the Tidewater Inn. You will wake the next morning to a bountiful breakfast, the perfect way to start your day. Spend Sunday afternoon at the Madison Wine Shop and at one of many nearby vineyards to continue your wine tasting adventure. You may even add a day or two to your stay with us to take in all the Connecticut Shoreline has to offer, from our beautiful beaches to museums, there is something for everyone! Special note, foliage colors peak the end of October and the beginning of November here along the shoreline. Come and indulge your leaf-peeping crave.  We can think of at least a dozen different ways!
