You're invited to escape to Madison CT for a very special Wine Dinner Getaway.

On Friday April 29, 2011, in keeping with our tradition of creating a most memorable evening, we again offer our "Wine Dinner Getaway Escape" for your enjoyment. The evening will begin with a reception of fine hors d’oeuvres and wine, followed by a six-course tasting menu for a perfectly paired wine dinner experience!


All of the wines will be unique and interesting, complimenting each and every course. With each course you will learn about the wines and the regions they come from. We have selected the some of the areas finest offerings! Collaborating with us, the specially selected fine dining restaurant, the gourmet cheese shop and the wine shop will create a symphony for your palate!

All of the wines are exquisite and have been selected and are available at the Madison Wine Shop. The evening will be highlighted by Meghan Dwyer from Votto Vines Importing, a family owned company with"Old World Values and New World Vision™. The Madison Wine Shop has introduced us to Meghan Dwyer, who will be on hand to share her passion and extensive knowledge and to present and pour each wine. Hors d’oeuvres and dessert will be prepared by the Tidewater Inn, dinner courses will be prepared by Tiberio’s restaurant, the cheese course provided by Madison Cheese, etc..

This exciting journey of food and wine will begin at 6:30pm. After your sumptuous repast you’ll retire to the comfort of your beautifully appointed room here at the Tidewater Inn. You will wake the next morning to a bountiful breakfast, the perfect way to start your day. Spend the afternoon at the Madison Wine Shop to continue your wine tasting adventure. You may even extend your stay with us to take in all the Connecticut Shoreline has to offer, from our beautiful beaches to museums, there is something for everyone!

This "all-inclusive" one-night escape includes: your choice of one of our “comfiest bed and breakfast on the shoreline” guestrooms for one (1) night, "wine dinner" and Saturday morning breakfast.     Just yesterday a friend and I were talking about how serene this wonderful part of the CT shoreline is.  Not sleepy. It's restful and serene. A sense of peace abounds.  You can feel the change in atmosphere as soon as you come across the Q bridge. Amazing.

   That's what our guests tell us too.  Restful and relaxing are adjectives they often use to describe how they feel while they're here.  It's a sense of well-being. ... Everything's right with the world...

   Today I came across an article titled "Serene Love ..." written by Rita Watson.   Here's an excerpt:

  "The news is out.  Men’s Health Magazine just revealed their list of the nation’s angriest cities. Making headlines on April 1, 2011, this was no April Fool’s joke.  But there was one big surprise -- Boston, Mass only received a 'D' rating.  If you happen to live in those cities on the list of the not-so-happy, this may not bode well for love and marriage.  Too much negativity surrounding you can stifle love.  But take heart. ..."

Creative Crafting Weekend Escape - May 6-8, 2011

I have been presented with a wonderful opportunity to share with you in May! Lauri Ingram, an independent Stampin' Up (r) Demonstrator and, in my opinion, creative paper crafting teacher extraordinaire, has offered to teach a few classes on papercrafting for a Creative Crafting Weekend Escape here at the Tidewater Inn!  What a wonderful way to spend Mother's Day Weekend!

Relax, rejuvenate and create during a crafters weekend, May 6, 7 and 8.  Your instructor, Lauri Ingram, has been crafting for over 20 years and specialized in paper crafts.  Join us for a surprise project on Friday evening and two classes on Saturday where we will explore the art of rubber stamping and paper crafts.  Not only will you create beautiful items, you will learn new skills, make new friends and enjoy a few surprises along the way!  Complement your weekend with time exploring downtown Madison and the shoreline.  

Friday evening you’ll be welcomed with a wine and cheese reception and home style dinner here at the inn, followed by a short paper crafting project that will introduce you to Lauri and set the stage for what’s to come.

After a restful night’s sleep in your charming guestroom, join us in the dining room on Saturday morning to enjoy a delicious three-course gourmet breakfast. Your first creative class of the day follows. Break for a light lunch and look forward to the second class of the day and a new project to spark your creativity. Late afternoon take time to relax and to explore all that Madison and the shoreline have to offer. Return to the inn and gather in front of the fireplace for a glass of wine before enjoying dinner together at one of our favorite Madison restaurants.

The Best Winter Antique Show Ever!

It's coming up this weekend - the Best Winter Antique Show Ever! Well, that's my opinion, anyway. As antique shows go, this one's possibly the most amazing antiques show of the year, and it happens in Winter, not Spring, Summer or Fall.

The 42nd Annual Guilford Antiques Show, benifiting the Hyland House Museum, is this weekend, February 26th and 27th, 2011, at the Elizabeth Adams School, 233 Church St (Rte 77 - Exit 58 off of I-95), Guilford CT.

The show features upward of 50 dealers and objects from the 18th to the early 20th centuries: furniture, American folk art, paintings, oriental carpets, estate jewelry, pottery, early iron, garden furnishings and more ... collectibles for every wish list.

Come to the Shoreline this weekend, take in this Antiques Show and browse to your heart's content. Bring your wagon or SUV and take home things you just can't live without. Dining doesn't get any fresher than this! The Dinners at the Farm, New England farm dinner benefit series, have announced the farms and dates for their 2011 season, and we have already begun receiving reservations here at the Tidewater Inn for overnight accommodations.

Barberry Hill Farm in Madison CT is your destination for dinners on July 7, 8, 9 and 10 and again on July 14, 15, 16 and 17. White Gate Farm in East Lyme CT is the place to be for dinners on August 11, 12,13 and 14 and again on August 18, 19 and 20 (21st is already sold out!).

Valentine's Day - a time to Celebrate our most Cherished Relationships.
I love the new Hallmark Valentine's Day commercial on TV this year: "Valentine's Day is not a day to say 'I Love You.' It's a day to say 'I Love Us.' To celebrate the One we have become." Wow! Now that's an enlightening thought, and I applaud whoever came up with it.
Yes, I believe it's true. It is all about the "Us" in our relationships, the oneness. So, this Valentine's Day, and always, celebrate all your most cherished relationships. If you're without a spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend right now, you still have other, and perhaps even deeper, relationships to celebrate ... dear friends, parents, children, brothers and sisters, and more.

Someone needs to write a song about this, don't you think? ...
